Co-Sleeping Twins

For the first 2 weeks, we let the boys sleep together at night and in their cribs during the day. Now they sleep only in their cribs separately. Griffin seems to be more fussy than Knox when he is sleeping so I decided to see if it was because he wasn't sleeping with his brother. After trying off an on the past few days I have decided that Griffin LOVES to sleep with Knox but Knox does NOT like to sleep with Griffin. So I don't think co-sleeping is going to happen much around here.

Newborn Pictures

I love how their newborn pictures turned out! I am so thankfully that we have gotten to know Mindy this year. She took our photos at Christmas time as a gift because I am her daughter's teacher. I just LOVE her sweet daughter Caroline and our love for this family continues...Mindy's mom/Caroline's Grandma is going to be keeping our boys when I go back to work in August.

April's Visit

My mom left on Easter and I was so scared to be alone with the babies after just 10 days. April offered to stay with us for the 2nd week! She was so helpful and I am sure it wasn't easy to be away from her husband and have to deal with a snappy new tired mom for a whole week. April and I enjoyed going on walks with the stroller downtown most days and usually ate outside at different restaurants. I was sad to see her go!

Easter

The boys were 10 days old on Easter, so we were not able to go to church. We hung out around the house, tried to take some easter pictures and took a few family photos as well as photos of my mom-she left that afternoon. :( For lunch we went over to Summer's for Easter lunch. The boys pretty much just slept the whole time. Since they were only 10 days, we were not supposed to pass them around just yet and we were trying to keep them away from the other kids.

Week 1 with our BOYS

I am so thankful that my mom was here to help me the first week the boys were here. She got up with my every night to feed them! And that was pretty much EVERY hour! I think we were too tired to get too many "action" shots from that first week.

I think my mom had him wrapped up because we were worried they would get cold. When we brought them home from the hospital, they had to have THREE layers (onsie, sleeper and swaddle!)

Their first bath was not super fun. They were not fans! We were just going to use the foam bath instead of a tub but we have now bought an actual bath and it is much better. 

March 30, 2012

At 3am I got up to take my "anti-contraction" medicine. I had been taking it for the past few weeks. I got back in bed and BAM! My water broke. I always wondered if I would KNOW when I went into labor. Well there was no doubt in my mind that my water broke. It was all over the bed, all over the carpet on the way to the bathroom, all over the bathroom floor and just kept flowing! I was in shock that this was happening! We called the hospital, to find out if we had to come right away or if we had time to take a shower. They said, "come now!" So we grabbed my bag and drove the few minutes away to the ER (this was at 3:06 - I know this because I checked the call log to my mom). We got to the hospital and they hooked me up to the fetal monitors. Very quickly I began feeling the contractions. We had already planned to have a c-section, so I knew I wouldn't have to deal with the contractions long. Everything was happening VERY fast. I actually asked for water and they brought me ice chips. I joked about why I couldn't have water since the ice chips would just melt into it and the nurse said, you will be in the OR before those ice chips have time to melt...and she was right! 

They wheeled me into the OR and they began to prep me. It really was so simple! I remember laying there and them all of a sudden saying, "we are about to pull the first baby out!" I was just shocked - I didn't even know they had cut me yet! The only negative to the c-setion was the nausea I felt a few times during the surgery.

Since I was 1 day shy of 35 weeks, we were not sure if the babies would be healthy. They came out screaming - this is me crying while listening to those beautiful crys. The babies were VERY VERY healthy and required no medical assistance! :)

After the surgery, Christopher got to go with the boys and watch them get cleaned up. I was brought to recovery. I was surprised that I didn't have to stay in recovery long. They brought me to my room and we waited a little while and they finally brought the boys for me to see.

The boys got many visitors while we were in the hospital, I just don't have pictures on my camera. My parents both were able to come, I just need to get pictures from them to document their presence! 


We stayed in the hospital for a little over 48 hours. We got to bring the babies home around lunch time on Sunday. We went to the pediatrician on Monday and she was shocked we got released! 4 days after they were born, Knox weighed 4.6lbs and Griffin 4.8lbs.
